- Completed Application
- Vet Records for all current dogs
- Home visit (if physical visit is not possible we will do a virtual visit)
- Signed Contract
- Payment of Adoption fee (once approved)

Do you require Chinese Crested experience?
We do not necessarily require Chinese Crested experience. We would love to introduce our favorite breed to more people! We will help educate you on the breed and help you choose the right dog for you. We look for the right home for our dogs. You may fall in love with a dog but if we do not feel it is the right fit, we will suggest another dog for you. First time Chinese Crested owners should start with a dog with minimal skin/teeth/health issues.

How do you do out of state home visits?
If we are not able to do a physical visit of your home, we do have other options! With today’s advancing technology, we can use Zoom or Facetime. If that is not feasible, we can still work with you. Pictures of the interior and exterior of your home including garage, basement, back yard, front yard, etc. can be submitted online on our virtual home visit page.
Pictures needed for the home visit:
- Driver’s license of the applicant
- A picture taken from the front door toward the street
- The backyard and fence (all 3 sides)
- Where the dog will stay when alone while the humans are gone
- Where the dog will sleep
- The main living area
- Additional main living area if needed
- Family Photo
- Photos of all current dogs (1)
- Any other inside and outside views you would like to share (1)

Do you offer transport options?
Yes! We will make every effort possible to assist in transporting a dog to you. Transporting costs are the responsibility of the adopter and are not included in the adoption fee. In some cases, we are able to help arrange transportation at no cost. Please keep in mind that we will not ship a dog in the cargo area on airlines. All dogs must be escorted in cabin by the adopter or an approved volunteer. We do not put dogs on large ground transports. Smaller ground transports will be considered.
**Unfortunately we currently have limited transport options. Most of our volunteer transport groups are not operating during the pandemic. We have one volunteer transport that runs from Houston to south Florida. The volunteers can bring a dog and meet an adopter along their route. If that is not an option, unfortunately anyone wanting to adopt a dog should plan on traveling to TX.

What else should I know?
Our adoption agreement is a legally binding contract between you and us. Please be sure that you thoroughly read and understand the agreement before you sign it. Some of the key things to note are:
- Adoption fees are not refundable.
- We do not know the exact age of any dog. We do our best to determine age.
- We do not know the medical history of any dog. We cannot guarantee the health status or life expectancy of any dog.
- If for any reason you can no longer care for a dog you adopted, you agree to return it to Tender Loving Crested Rescue.
